The long journey of the gas tax is almost over.
Last fall Governor Tina Kotek pushed through a $4.3 billion gas tax without bothering to ask voters in a publci vote.
That $4.3 billion gas tax would be law right now if it wasn’t for the effort by State Senator Bruce Starr, Representative Ed Diehl, and Jason Williams, Founder of the Taxpayers Association of Oregon, who launched a referendum petition campaign to demand a public vote on the tax. A quarter-million signatures were collected by voters who wanted a vote.
That petition drive successful placed the issue on the May Primary ballot.
No we need to vote NO.
