The Legislature passing the $4.3 billion gas tax/wage tax bill is going to hurt what many people love most about Oregon — the accessible outdoors. The new tax bill, soon to be signed by Governor Kotek, will add $300 to the cost of many family budget (gas tax hike, DMV fee hike, 100% wage transit tax increase).
The Oregon State Government just raised public park day-use fees from $5 to $10 at the start of 2025, and also added 21 formerly “free” park sites to be added to the existing pay park sites.
At the same time, Oregon enacted a new rule forcing smaller paddle boarders and canoes to pay a $20 annual permit (or $6 per weekly use).
