Alger from Oregon City sent us this comment on how Governor Kotek’s $4.3 billion gas tax/wage tax would hurt him financially. Agler told us, “I’m 81 years old, and I do not have any savings or investments to help with my retirement expenses. To have a big jump in gas taxes would sink me even more in debt than I am in right now.”
Alger’s story reflects many Oregon seniors on limited income. How are people on limited income supposed to pay for higher gas taxes and higher DMV fees that are found in Kotek’s $4.3 billion gas tax package?
Seniors on limited income are already paying 50% higher utility bills since Covid.
