The 35-day February Special Legislative Session starts on Monday. Governor Kotek and Democratic legislative leaders aim to switch the November 2026 election for the gas tax referendum vote and move it to the May primary where you get 60% fewer voters. To make that happen, lawmakers must pass a bill and get the Governor’s signature by February 25th.
This means that the bill will be sped through the Legislative process very soon.
This also means the public will have little advance notice and limited ability to participate compared to a normal Legislative Session.
Be prepared.
Be ready.
When the bill comes up, we will sound the alarm, but citizens need to be ready to call-your-lawmaker, to protest, and to spread the word.
